This Privacy Policy explains how BDP Timepieces ("BDP," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit bdpwatches.com (the "Site") join the Founder's Circle, or place a Founder's Edition deposit. BDP is in the prelaunch development stage and the Site is currently operated by its founder on behalf of the company being formed.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you join the Founder's Circle, we collect your name, your email address, the collections you select as interests, and your consent to receive updates. If you email us, we collect the contents of your message and your contact details.
Founder's Edition deposits
When you place a deposit, our payment processor Stripe collects your name, email address, phone number, billing address and payment card details on its secure checkout page. Stripe shares with us your name, email, phone number, billing address, the payment amount and status, and limited card details such as the card brand and last four digits. We never receive or store your full card number. We keep a deposit record with your name, email, the collection and edition you chose, your Founder's Edition number, the amount paid and Stripe's transaction references.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, pages requested, and the date and time of your visit. We use this information to deliver and secure the Site.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
With your consent, the Site uses analytics cookies to understand how visitors use it and marketing cookies, such as the Meta Pixel, to measure and personalize our ads on other websites and apps. These collect device and browser information, pages viewed, actions taken on the Site and similar online identifiers. Strictly necessary cookies are always on. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies in our cookie banner and change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
Information from third-party services
The Site loads typefaces from Fontshare (operated by Indian Type Foundry) and Google Fonts. When your browser requests these fonts, those providers receive your IP address and browser information under their own privacy policies.
2. How we use information
- To process your Founder's Edition deposit, issue and record your edition number, send confirmations, process refunds, and keep the accounting and tax records the law requires.
- To send Founder's Circle updates, design previews, and news about a crowdfunding launch you asked to hear about.
- To understand which collections people are most interested in, so we can plan production.
- With your consent, to measure how people use the Site and to measure and personalize BDP advertising on social media and other websites.
- To respond to your messages.
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site, and to prevent fraud and abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
We will not use your information for purposes that are materially different from these without telling you and, where required, getting your consent.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. If you allow marketing cookies, advertising partners such as Meta receive online identifiers and information about your activity on the Site, which some state privacy laws treat as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising or as a "sale." You can opt out at any time, as described in Section 6. We share information only with:
- Service providers who help us run the Site and our communications, such as website hosting (Vercel), our deposit database (Supabase), payment processing (Stripe, which also uses information to prevent fraud under its own privacy policy), and email delivery providers. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Analytics and advertising partners, such as Google Analytics and Meta, only through cookies you have allowed.
- A crowdfunding platform, only if you choose to back a campaign there. Your relationship with that platform is governed by its terms and privacy policy.
- Successors, including the company BDP forms, or a buyer or successor in a merger, financing or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
- Authorities, when required by law or needed to protect the rights, property or safety of BDP, our users or others.
4. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your information based on your consent (Founder's Circle emails, which you can withdraw at any time), the performance of a contract (processing your deposit, number and any refund), our legitimate interests (operating and securing the Site, understanding demand), your consent for analytics and marketing cookies, and compliance with legal obligations.
5. How long we keep information
We keep Founder's Circle information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until the list is no longer needed. We keep deposit records for as long as your deposit is held and then for the period required for accounting, tax and legal purposes, generally seven years. Server logs are kept for a limited period by our hosting provider, typically no longer than needed for security and operations. We may keep limited records longer when the law requires it.
6. Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from emails at any time with the link in any message or by writing to us. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email privacy@bdpwatches.com. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
California residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to delete it; to correct it; and to opt out of its sale or sharing. In the past 12 months we have collected identifiers (name, email address, phone number, postal address, IP address), commercial information (deposit records and edition numbers), limited payment information through Stripe, internet activity information (Site usage logs and, with your consent, analytics and advertising cookie data) and inferences about product interests, from you and your device, for the purposes described above. If you allow marketing cookies, we share identifiers and internet activity information with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. To opt out of sale or sharing, choose "Reject non-essential" or turn off marketing cookies in our Cookie settings, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request. Under California's "Shine the Light" law, you may ask us about disclosures for direct marketing; we do not make such disclosures.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Our Site honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and keeps marketing cookies off for any browser that sends one. Because standards for "Do Not Track" browser signals are not settled, we do not respond to them separately, but you can decline all non-essential cookies in our Cookie settings.
7. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted HTTPS connections, to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International visitors
BDP is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the effective date. If changes are material, we will give additional notice, for example by email to Founder's Circle members.
11. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@bdpwatches.com. For anything else, write to hello@bdpwatches.com.
